Story: Job title shows a trend
In April 2019, I’ve started to look for job in New York, L.A.(California), Toronto and Vancouver. I tried not choose what I can do right now. I would like to consider more challenging position which I can utilize my current skills as well. I searched for UX/UI. AI recommends me product design position to me.
When I started Sketch APP, it was fun to create a prototype. Very interactive. Good to show it to client. They can feedback easily.
In the past, it was physical product, I believe. However, Nowadays it categorize to web or app creation as well. I would like to clarify exactly what product designer is.
Product designer’s role
As a product designer, your main responsibility is to take broad ideas and needs into simple, functional, beautiful products and features.
You’ll work alongside product managers, developers, and other designers to define and deliver new features, translate concepts into living, breathing prototypes, and iterate on interactions, animations, and details to deliver pixel-perfect experiences.
As a product designer in a company, you’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to conceptualize, design and deliver product and features.
From sketching a new feature in paper to tweaking pixels right before launch, you’ll be in charge of realizing broad concepts into simple, functional and elegant user experiences. – Jobbatical

Product design requirement:
1. Communication for collaboration
2. User research
3. Analytics data(hyposis)
4. Storyboards
5. Information architecture
6. Wireframes
7. Prototypes
8. UX, user experience design(user center design)
9. UI, user interface design(front-end development & UI pattern toolkits)
I would like to review above.
1. Understandable
2-3. Hypnosis, but I have to know how it should acculate
4. User flow and persona? In order to create better product
5.-9. No doubt
A good Product Designer knows a bit of animation, prototyping, coding, research, visual and interaction design.

The video mentions salary first. Because basically this is advertising/promotion video of the school. If you reacted to the money, I suggest that you should not be a product designer. There are tons of jobs which you can earn the money more that that. If you love to design, please no hastete. This is a meaningful job.

Industry trends
I totally understand current situation for graphic designer. The graphic design skill is fundamental, but you cannot provide much values, solutions for client(or agency) on itself. There are many freelance services on internet, and cheap.
Graphic designer has to realize market(business) trend, values and demands. Otherwise, you cannot survive in the industry.
