Story: Articulate the process by the words
Design Thinking is an iterative process in which we seek to understand the user, challenge assumptions, and redefine problems in an attempt to identify alternative strategies and solutions that might not be instantly apparent with our initial level of understanding. At the same time, Design Thinking provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. – Interaction Design Foundation
Design Thinking is an approach used for practical and creative problem-solving. in other words, solving the complex problem in a user-centric way.
I knew design thinking, but I didn’t know the word of each step. Sometimes, these pieces of knowledge are useful to talk with the client. You have to show your professionalism. Once you search the design thinking, you will find the image above, empathize, define, ideate, prototype & test.
In short,
1. Focuses on User
2. Understand User’s Needs
3. Come Up with Solutions

Explain each criterion step by step. One question. If the client knows what they need, that’s great. However, the client often doesn’t know what they need. How can we figure out about potential problems?

– Design thinking specifically focuses on the human-centred side of creative problem-solving.
– Who you’re design for? What they’re needs are?

2. Define
What are the user needs, problems, challenges?

Come up with ideas and try to mach the problems which found define section
4. Prototype
Simple & testable products
5. Test
Testing real people & receive feedback. Back to previous processes
How It Works: Design Thinking

A good explanation and example. I think we shouldn’t stick too much at first. Set a timeline and launch as soon as possible. Then, if we received a certain reaction at the market, we can constantly improve by this method.
Video mentions design thinking and agile. I didn’t know the later.
Agile software development refers to a group of software development methodologies based on iterative development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing cross-functional teams. Agile methods or Agile processes generally promote a disciplined project management process that encourages frequent inspection and adaptation, a leadership philosophy that encourages teamwork, self-organization and accountability, a set of engineering best practices intended to allow for rapid delivery of high-quality software, and a business approach that aligns development with customer needs and company goals. – cprime

We can watch one of the highest design school lectures on YouTube.
– Innovation is not invent. It’s a process.
– Think needs as verb rather than noun.
– Focus on extremely user, the insights around those needs are amplified.
– The best way to have a good idea is to have lots of ideas. – Linus Pauling
– The bias toward action.
– Fail early and test often.

Conclusion: Desingn thinking in any field
If you are a designer, this may be too common. I didn’t know the steps, but actually I use it in the work. The visual design problem is much easy to solve for designer. Therefore, the value totally drops.
The difficulty is in real business. It does not say I have a problem. We have to find(or assume) it. I watched the case of Apple. When increasing the profits of online shopping, they decided to revolve retail. That’s really difficult decision. Even I had never heard CX(customer experience) at that time.
You know design thinking as knowledge, but the implementation is totally different stage. I need only a harsh experiences.
