Story: Oil price and environment
Recently, the oil price has gone up around $1.65 – &1.70 per litter on April 29, 2019. It won’t significantly drop anymore. Many people are considering replacing an electric vehicle. I still drive a gas car, but I’m sure that the automobile company has to provide only a hybrid car or EV by law near future.
Everyone knows we are facing the issue of energy consumption. If we don’t change the behavior of daily consumption, the oil will be run out in this century. United nation presents global sustainable goals for 2030. One of them is affordable and clean energy, climate action.
Under these circumstances, it’s quite a boom for creating future transportation. Autonomous car and share transportation will be standard and commercialized in a decade. I researched how future transportation changes our daily life.
Electric vehicle
Electric vehicles first appeared in the mid-19th century, actually. It was not enough quality for commercial use though. The automobile company has released EV since 2010. It may no problem if people use as city ride. It needs consideration if you drive EV for a road trip. It depends on how many plug-in stations are on the route. Relatively EV is expensive than a traditional car. It is already very close to our life. I checked what benefit EV has.

Benefit of EV
Temperature control, confirm battery capacity and driving range, this is a great experience for the owner. Many people included me does not have this experience. Of course, we have to shift gas to electric for the environmental issue. However, this shift is not negative. It’s a more positive direction.
You don’t need to care about the router, brake pad, engine oil. Just need to change battery and tire once run out. This benefit is not stand out, but actually, it’s great.

In 2020, Robotaxi(Tesla) will be running on the road. Why is it possible? Because of an electric vehicle. It like an iPhone, iOS. Once the software update, the car’s function automatically update. That’s amazing. Auto park, autochanger, it sounds the future. The car behaves like a person, Elon Musk says.
Bloomberg technology says Robotaxi won’t happen in 2020. Not only Tesla’s technology, but there is much technology it’s required. Might need legal protection as well.
Even if it’s false, I like this vision. It’s going to happen sooner or later. An investor may not allow retardation. As a consumer, his vision makes me excited.

If the car hit a pedestrian or crash a car, who will take responsibility?

Future transportation
Transport today is mostly powered by fossil fuel. The reason for this is the ease of use and the existence of mature technologies harnessing this fuel source. Fossil fuels represent a concentrated, relatively compact source of energy. The drawbacks are that they are heavily polluting and rely on limited natural resources. There are many proposals to harness renewable forms of energy, to use fossil fuel more efficiently, or to use human power, or some hybrid of these, to move people and things. – Wikipedia
The video above shows prototypes. It looks still for activities, not for daily life. I am sure during improving, these companies adjust usability. Car will be automation sooner. The year 2023, Japanese billionaire will go to space travel by Space X. Water-fuel car will be presented in a decade. Revolutionary changes in our life.

I hear the interview of founder on Bloomberg Technology. Our daily transportation is quite short distance, but many people use a car. In Asia, this business may not work. Because of a bylaw or culturally. Normally, there are many bikes compare to North US. In my home, there were 2 bikes and car, middle-class family in Japan. It’s quite common, possess a car, bike and bicycle. I often use a car for a short distance. So, I’m a potential user. Lime will expand to Canada near future. I look forward to using it.
Think of the next generation
In 20 century, we expanded the economy without coexistence with the environment. We encounter a natural disaster, typhoon, wildfire, global warming. We created causes in the past. We have to reflect it.
We cannot imagine easily, but oil will be run out during this century. We have to think about an alternative plan. Our generation may be fine, but for the next generation.
