Overview
In recent years, cell phones have become an integral part of our lives. There are many cell phone repair shops downtown: almost every convenience store and shopping center have one. The tenant fee is quite expensive. I understand that they only have a small budget for branding, but I simply can’t feel safe entrusting them with my phone. In all honesty, I would rather pay Apple their exorbitant fees instead. I discussed this issue with a friend, and, just like that, the iPhone MAN projects was born.
Although my colleague learned the skills to repair iPhones, it was clear to me that we couldn’t exist as a brick and mortar competitor due to the rent overhead. Thus, we cut the middle man and established ourselves online. I had the task of creating a reliable and clean design for the brand. I also undertook part of online marketing as a consultant.
Challenge
Before designing, I checked competitor’s appearance. No much care about branding for them. As I said, online marketing and SEO are key for this service.
“Cell, phone, and repair” were a keyword for a customer. He focuses on “iPhone”. Of course, I could not choose “iPhone Repair”. It was unavailable. I approached by naming agenda, “The” and “Mr.”. Then, I named “iPhone MAN Repairs”.

The competitor uses pink, blue, yellow, green etc. I could not use pink. I named “iPhone MAN Repairs”. The impression, relief comfortable(like a clinic) is important, but it is not the first priority in this case. I expressed feeling, “young, groovy and fast”. According to my search, I found that Apple which created iPhone favorites these typefaces, Myriad, Lucida Grande, Helvetica Neue, and Avenir.
Result
Since 2015 November 11th(Just he said it’s iPhone Day), he supports over 200 people. Customer satisfaction reaches 96%. Not only social media, but I set up Google My Business and Yelp as well. I was not sure this service when he suggested the idea. However, I realized how important think out of the box. So many services exist on the internet. We can find a solution even no experience. We should not give up easily.
