I discovered Replicate through YouTube, where I came across various AI tools. Although there are many options available, it is impractical for me to test each one individually due to the time it would consume. As a web/graphic designer, I’m particularly interested in utilizing AI tools for my work. Recently, I watched a YouTuber testing an image restoration tool, which resonated with me as it is a common situation I encounter. Clients often provide low-resolution images or extract pictures from outdated websites when I’m developing a new website. While I utilize a compressor for optimization, I lack extensive knowledge in image restoration techniques.
In light of these considerations, I decided to try out Replicate.com.

The only you need is to create a GitHub account and visit Explore page.
Signin
I looked for sign-up, but I could see only sign-in. I created and GitHub accounts a while ago. I am non-code web designer using Webflow. So, I am still not familiar with GitHub. I totally lost my way. After all, nothing to do on this page.
Doc
To be honest, I did not know how to use Replicate, or how I start on this platform. Am I a minority? Do people figure it out easily? Is this my issue, or a UX/UI issue on this website?
I searched on YouTube. Basically, the steps are below.

I picked up old photos from Wikipedia, prime minister minister of Canada. I waited only a few seconds. Replicate generated this image. I think this is a quite good job.

I got used to using Midjourney. So, I am not sure about this quality. It was not impressed.
Videos
I tested Replicate a couple of times. Then, I faced the requirement of a credit card. I don’t.
I thought text-to-video can be the next project on IG.
Conclusion: Looking for usage
Replicate is an intriguing tool that offers a wide range of collections for image and video generation. There may be occasions where I can incorporate a text or image-generated video into a web design project, depending on the client’s preferences. Fortunately, resolution issues rarely arise, making it a useful resource, albeit not always practical.
As a non-code web designer using Webflow, I am not clear why Stable Diffusion is running on Replicate. 🤔
When it comes to evaluating Replicate, I don’t solely rely on its current version. AI continues to learn and improve with every user interaction, rather than getting worse over time. Therefore, I will closely monitor its progress and development.
