Story: Immigrant in Canada
On August 16, 2021, I watch Afghan news. Since I was born, war has always happened somewhere in the world. Just it was TV news, not close to me. There are many issues in society, equality, poverty, discrimination, homelessness, pandemic, and climate change. How many issues I faced, I am basically blessed.
There are many reasons people come to Canada.
Some people are looking for a better life.
Some people are pursuing academic careers.
Some people are for making better money.
I can see some tendency of the job and nationality. For example, many taxi drivers are mid-eastern people. I can see many Asians in a restaurant. Many south-east Asians are in the hospitality and cleaning industry.
I understand that new immigrants cannot get an ideal job easily even they have some specialties in their country. Doing what you love and making a living is sometimes conflict. Therefore, people burn out.
However, if we just try to make a living in Canada, It’s not so difficult. We are in the gig economy. There are many new types of job opportunities. I believe that an academic background does not matter. I would like to pick them up, just in case? in the future.
What is Gig Economy?

The “gig economy involves the exchange of labour for money between individuals or companies via digital platforms that actively facilitate matching between providers and customers, on a short-term and payment-by-task basis,” according to the UK government. – World Economy Forum
15 Of The HIGHEST PAYING Gig Economy JOBS

I did not know about a vehicle supplier. I don’t think I can rent a car if I bought a new one. Pet and child care sounds open door, but does everyone can take responsibility? I am not sure.
Conclusion: Earning whenever we want
In the past, job loss equals no income(or EI temporary). Thanks to technology, we can earn money whenever we want in 2021. It sounds much better than before. We are in the condition that we cannot excuse.
If we work for gigs, the earning may be limited. The earning won’t beyond the platform provider. They always earn more than us. Even so, once we reach 100K/year, life won’t be a survival mode in Canada.
