Story: Think about the process as a customer

How many smartphone users are in the world? → 6.648 Billion(83.89% of the world’s population)
How many shares between iOS and Android? → 25% for iOS, 70% for Android

How many APP was downloaded in 2020? → 218 billion app

Nowadays, the demand for a programmer/product designer is skyrocketing. Not only SaaS/APP startups, the traditional businesses also develop an APP. The world needs a programmer/product designer instead of a graphic designer even though I don’t think that graphic design skills are unnecessary.

A while ago, a client asked me, “Can you make an APP?”. I know how to make a prototype by Adobe XD or Figma, but I’ve never tried to build it. I don’t know how much it costs.

I don’t have to make everything myself. I can ask the developer who can make it for me. However, when I manage the project, I have to know what I can do and cannot do as a function/feature, what the product designer does, how long does it take at least.

In 2022, I have some ideas which I want to test. I searched for how to make an APP, and what’s the process. This is a good UX practice to understand a customer, has an idea, but doesn’t know what to do.

This article mentions much details. I have to choose what I need to do and what I don't have to do for MVP(minimum valuable product). I don't develop an APP (or Google chrome extension) myself. I do planning. I may make a prototype by Figma if need. It's up to an estimate.

Mobile Apps - Web vs. Native vs. Hybrid

©Traversy Media

Web APP
- Run all device, browser, platform
- HTML/CSS/JS
- Easy maintain
- Low cost

Native APP
- APP on the phone
- Good user experience
- Cost
- Android or iOS
- Different programing

Hybrid APP
- HTML/CSS/JS
- Single APP for all platform
- No need browser

APP is not only a mobile APP on your phone. There is a web-based APP and PWA(progressive web app). I don't want to invest before the testing. MVP first.

Nice explanation, much details. I could understand the process of real APP development. This is much bigger than MVP though.

I may use UpWork instead of Fiverr, but this is one way to develop MVP. I can test ideas quickly. NDA is considered. To be honest, I need to talk about the idea with someone to receive objective feedback. I cannot ask NDA from all the people I talk to.

I have to figure out what's the best format, mobile APP, web APP or Google chrome extension.

BuildFire: Key Mobile App Statistics for 2022

Economist expects that a user of mobile device and APP will be grown steadily. However, opening APP for a user is limited. Please remind yourself? How many APP do you use? I use it below.

iPhone XS
- Mail
- Weather(widgets)
- YouTube
- LinkedIn
- Twitter
- Audible
- Slack
- Translate
- Safari
- Starbucks/Tim Hortons(occasionally)
...

I can not say that I am an average mobile user. I use a laptop, MacBook Pro, mainly. I don't remember when the last time I downloaded a mobile APP. I see 80+ apps on my iPhone, but over half of APPs are no reason to exist. I downloaded some reason, but I have never opened them. I may develop a web app first. I may develop a mobile app if my idea is firm.
