Story: 4th industrial revolution means?
Many services are developed every day. Infrastructure and technology are integrated rapidly and it makes possible everything.
Nowadays, we can directly connect to people we want. Under the job hunting, it’s obvious. We have to develop trusty through online proof, why I am the right person. We have to be unique compared to others. We have to give them value. Otherwise, HR or decision-maker won’t pick you up as a potential candidate.
As a designer, everyone can create a portfolio. HR cannot recognize which is better portfolio A and portfolio B. How do we impress them? That’s why we need a self-introduction video. Right now, not everyone creates it. Therefore, it’s a chance to us. I understand many people hesitate self-introduction video.
I am totally uncomfortable it. I am not a native speaker, but if I don’t take action, I cannot change the future.
The Futur

This is not exactry self-introduction video, but I like how he speaks in front of a camera. Energy, vocal variety and body language. I respect Chris Do and his team.
In the second video, Chris mentions, Work without a story is undifferentiated. Undifferentiated work has a lot of competition. Good point. I think it depends on who your audience is. HR may want to know about who you are as well as your work. On UpWork, the client may not care who you are.
We have to adjust an application to the occasion. Either way, the self-introduction video will be work. At least, it does not give the audience to negative impact.

This is not only self-introduction. Introduce his business as well. Therefore, the video a little long, 1:49. I would like to keep it within 30 seconds, at most 1 minute.
I like how he startsk the video, ‘Growing up at the very simple dream…’. It’s dramatic. The video included many components which may not necessary for all freelance, but we can learn from this video a lot. Very nice.
– Talk to a camera with slime.
– Tell the story.
– A lot of scenes, work and private.
– Integrating music and pictures.
Ying-Ying Lu, 1-min. Self-Introduction

You can see hesitation at first. I can see nervousness as well. However, good courage in front of a camera.
Good clean background, appropriate background music. She speaks very straight forward start to end without any other scenes. It may depend on the purpose of video.
I, as freelance, I would like to add a meeting scene, working scene and chatting scene. Not sure about design mockup. Anyway, we should utilize video as media effectively. I don’t know about her, but overall, this is good.
This Is Me – Short Introduction About Myself

Very cheerful and positive atmosphere. The voice sounds different person. I could not figure out what the purpose is. I don’t have many opinions about video. Because this is her.
Creative Self Introduction /Manifesto|Ideas for CV Video

She named the video, Creative Self Introduction /Manifesto| Ideas for CV Video. Generally speaking, a CV is a very in-depth document that describes your career journey step-by-step, including all sorts of personal information. I am not sure about her career journey even though I don’t know the real purpose of the video, for a job application or for a personal project. I could understand she has illustration and motion graphic skills.
English Teacher Self introduction

What I like about this video is a clear target audience, people who want to learn English. In addition, she says clearly what she does and what she offers. No much decoration and background. This is the pros and cons. It may show a lack of professionalism.
She taught me that there is no need for much equipments. Only cell phone and scripts. That’s the minimum requirement. Good job.
Self-introduction video

She taught me that don’t care others opinion, and try right now. Good try.
She learned something related to computer at colladge, recent graduate. She said she want to be a successful woman and make a family glad. This is very unclear what she want to do.
Background is little noizy, but this is no problem level of video. I could capture her positive atmosphere.
Graphic designer’s self-introduction, Cheung Hei Long, Louis

This is also a good try. Sounds he is reading scripts that he prepared. It is not bad, but I think something missing.
The music does not fit the video. It sounds classic, European. The quality of the recording voice isn’t good. Especially, the end of the video. His breath a little interrupted the concentration.
He has never talked to the camera. It makes me feel less intimate. I picked up girl’s videos above and they are a better impression. I don’t want to say it’s a gender gap, but I should learn from them. Anyway good try though.
Conclusion: Setting the purpose first
You can see many differentiations in each videos. What they said is just one part of their characteristic. What they show, how they shoot, and editing also tells us their story. It is not possible to explain who we are on our resume. Basically, HR does not have time to check all resumes.
Please don’t think too much. Please don’t invest in equipment. If you have a smartphone, that’s enough. You can tell your story to the world, today!
