Story: Capability of Webflow CMS
Webflow announced its integration with Spline in 2023, which was big news for the Webflow community. I first touched Spline when it was still in beta. It wasn’t difficult to create 3D objects with Spline. Although I don’t have the skills to use objects developed with Spline, I’m confident I can find a professional on Upwork to assist.
I understand what we can do with Spline in Webflow, but I haven’t had many opportunities to use it. I work with clients across various industries, and 3D interactions are not yet common. I occasionally use 3D elements, and I can move them using Webflow’s interface, so in those cases, I don’t need to use Spline.
What is Webflow?
🌎 Webflow: The Web Development Platform Of The Future
Webflow is created for a designer who is not good at programming. Once you master Webflow, you can develop an interactive website yourself.
Documentation
Webflow and Spline both provide written documentation, so implementation won’t be an issue. If I find someone to create a Spline file, I need to ask them to share the original file. I will keep it in my Spline account and export the Spline Scene for Webflow implementation. Even if I cannot modify it, under the client’s project, we cannot rely on the contributor to keep the file forever. We must control it.
Showcase
3D objects easily catch your attention, but the important thing is to prepare the 3D object with a collaborator and manage it properly. Then, actually, implement it on your website. There are many 3D creators, and now we have Spline. As a last resort, you can use Midjourney. Anyway, the cost won’t be too high—we can experiment through trial and error.
Create wow experience to the visitor
We may be living in a mobile-first world, but I still prefer browsing websites on a laptop. It’s just easier to multitask, open multiple tabs, and take in information quickly.
When I use my phone, it’s usually for a specific task—something with a clear purpose. Maybe it’s old-fashioned, but I’ve never been one to shop for clothes or gadgets on mobile. I stick to things like Uber, street parking, or grabbing a Starbucks. No DoorDash, no Amazon—at least not yet. I know I’ll need to get more comfortable with it.
That said, the Webflow course was great. It made the learning process smooth and engaging. On to the next project—let’s keep building and exploring!
