There are many ways to develop backlinks. I can find the offer on Fiverr or Upwork as well. I used the service only once on UpWork before. She was in India. I asked her to send a report of what she did. She made an account at an ambiguous website and made backlinks. She said it is a white hat, but I was not sure about it. Overall, I did not feel any results.

I created a 1 backlink at Awwwards which is a well-known website for web designers. I understand that I cannot compete with them, but I have to be public. I don’t know where the potential opportunity will have come. I cannot wait for it passively.

Online marketplace

I have started to use Upwork in January 2020. It was good timing, before the pandemic coincidentally. When I receive an inquiry through the website, some people say they find my service on Upwork. We never know where a potential client finds us. So, we have to be on the public market at least. Furthermore, approaching clients from us is better if possible.

Creative community website

In January 2022, I could see 144 creators/agencies in Canada. It’s a little small amount, I thought. Because submission costs $65. Monetizing a website is good for sustainable business. It was not expensive, but it is not so cheap. I will consider it.

Social media

There are many social media, but for business, LinkedIn comes to the top priority. When I search the name, LinkedIn is actually the top result, not a portfolio. Twitter is also high rank. Please be careful what you tweet. It shows what you think and how you speak publicly. After all, business is a person with a person whatever your expertise is.

Local community/club

In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone. – Creativemornings Website

When I visited the Creativemornings Vancouver chapter, I really enjoyed meeting people who have never seen before. The vast majority of people are local people and I have no chance to talk with them in life. In most cases, it’s only one time to meet. As a new immigrant, it’s okay, it’s like life.

I create an account and I write comments when I watch the talk. My account page often shows up on Google’s 1st page when I search name or business.

Local organization

If you are living a certain size of the city, I believe that there is an organization that helps business development. This is a Small Business BC and they created a marketplace for local businesses during the pandemic. (Thanks 👏🏻)

Industry chamber/organization

There is also an association for experts, such as graphic design, marketing, architect, writer, etc. In my case, there is GDC, Graphic Designers of Canada, in Canada. AMA, American Marketing Association is also famous. You can be a member depending on your expertise.

Conclusion: Do what we can do

– Write an article for high authority media, New York Times, Forbes, Time, etc
– Write an article at Medium

I may be able to write something at Medium, but I don’t think I can provide value for authority media. Anyway, these are some ideas. You can find ideas of develop backlinks on the internet and YouTube. Now, you know the importance of backlinks. It grows naturally if you run a meaningful business for the long term. It won’t grow tomorrow suddenly unless you use a black hat.

SEO is not luck. Your correct effort will be paid off.
