I picked up video editing software for DaVinci Resolve. I watched DaVinci Resolve tutorials on YouTube. I implemented learning to project. The first project has done in 1 week.
I am impressed with the DaVinci Resolve. DaVinci Resolve may not easy to use for everyone. Interfaces are complicated. It means there are so many functions a user has. Using all the features or not, it depends on the user. DaVinci Resolve is better than iMovie. I don’t know Adobe Premiere deeply, but DaVinci Resolve covers title animation, image moving, frame transition, etc.
As a beginner, I enjoy the possibility of DaVinci Resolve and I would like to learn useful tips of DaVinci Resolve. Don’t need to go deep. The purpose is to change the audience’s impression. What makes a video special? I focus on title text animation, picture moving, and video transition.
DaVinci Resolve Video Editor
I downloaded DaVinci Resolve 18. It has 3GB. Too heavy for MacBook Pro. In addition, Mac OS X 10.15 or Later is Required. I deleted it right now. I found the page where I can download the old version, but I don’t know which version can be installed on High Sierra. I searched for it, but it was not clear. I checked each spec and I think DaVinci Resolve 15.3.1 is the highest version for High Sierra.

– Media pool → right click → create new fusion composition
– Fusion tab → add text → connect to media(i don’t know how to say)
– Mask for animation → mask paint → brush size
– Invert → key frame → right click → time stretching

Mask maybe makes the user confused if they use these kinds of software for the first time. Photoshop also has a mask and I could understand it at the beginning. Once you get used to it, a mask is very useful and makes your expression wider.

Conclusion: Everyone can be designer
In 2022, there is no border between non-designer and designers. Software, like Canva, is provided for everyone. Everyone can use a template(pre-made design) and the output looks design even non-designer cannot explain. A designer may deny the template, but it does not matter how the designer thinks or feels. People need MVP(minimum valuable product) and it does not require high quality.
All freelance web/graphic designer does not need video editing. I just enjoy learning something new. Video editing is also not a special skill anymore. Tools are provided. If you learn, you can do it. If you edit 10 times, you can be better than before. You can share it on social media or make it public on YouTube for motivating learning for video editing.
Overwhelming? I think so. If you worry about the future, do what you can do today.
